The historic museum,
Richmondtown Restoration, traces
300 years of Staten Island life. Toys, furniture, tools, china and other domestic and agricultural items of past centuries are exhibited, with a vast collection of photographs, including many works of Alice Austen, a local recorder of events and people.
The restored village is frequently the scene of special events, including flea markets, and
Easter egg hunt, an antique and craft market and a
Civil War encampment weekend.
Craftspeople and trades people in costume use the techniques of long ago. The village includes a museum of childhood, with antique dolls and toys and small-scale furniture.
